Despite being PDP candidate, you must face trial for N416 million fraud, Court tells Fayose.....

A Federal High Court in Ado- Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Thursday refused the request by the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, to delay his trial to enable him concentrate in prosecuting his gubernatorial ambition.
Mr. Fayose, a former governor of Ekiti State, is standing trial for allegedly misappropriating state funds to the tune of N416 million during his tenure between 2003 and 2006.
However, last Saturday, he emerged the flag bearer of the PDP for the June 21 governorship election in the state.
At the resumed hearing on the fraud suit, the counsel to the former governor, Raji Ahmed, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, prayed the court to adjourn the matter till the first week in July to allow his client concentrate on his electoral campaign as the candidate of the PDP in the governorship election in Ekiti. He argued that the accused must be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Barely 24 hours after a policeman killed wife, five others and self in Abeokuta, a-65-year-old retired Chief magistrate, Olufunmilayo Timeyin, was slaughtered by a house help at her residence in Laderin estate in Obafemi-Owode local government area of Ogun State. The 25-year-old house help simply identified as David allegedly scaled the fence of the late Timeyin’s bungalow, reportedly deactivated the security system built inside the building and laid siege within the premises before hacking the retired magistrates death.
David, an Igede, Benue state-born was reportedly employed two months ago and sent packing last two weeks for allegedly stealing his boss valuables including phones and jewelries which led to his arrest and subsequently release on the boss order.
It was gathered that David, after killing his former boss , scaled the fence back into the bush behind the house where he hid himself to avoid being caught.

Nigerian security agency, JTF, arrests two Britons, others for crude oil theft, bribery (+PHOTOS).....

The Joint Task Force, JTF, in the Niger Delta, on Friday announced that its officials declined a N20 million gratification offered by a syndicate to facilitate oil theft. The members of the syndicate, including two Britons, were also arrested.
The Commander of the JTF, Emmanuel Atewe, who paraded the suspects before journalists in Yenagoa, said that the suspects were arrested shortly after offering $66,500 (N10.6 million) being part payment of the N20 million bribe pledge.
The cash exhibit was also displayed before journalists at the JTF Headquarters in Yenagoa.
Mr. Atewe explained that a representative of the syndicate approached the JTF with an approval letter from Naval Headquarters for a vessel, NNS Delta, to evacuate petroleum products.
Based on the letter, the JTF said it granted the approval and directed its troops to monitor the activities of the firm in the water ways.

Why Female lawyer buys baby for N1.5 million in Ondo....

A Lawyer from Cameroon, Mrs Ngala Norgu Julia was recently arrested by men of the Cross River State Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service for allegedly being in possesion of a one-week old baby girl which she claims she was delivered of by a herbalist at Okitiputa, Ondo State.
Mr Samuel Igochi, the Comptroller of Immigration, Cross River State Command said Mrs Ngala was arrested by intelligence and investigation team of the service at the Calabar Port while trying to smuggle the baby which apparently she did not deliver to Cameroon.
“She claims a herbalist, the owner of Ayodele Herbal Home in Okitipupa, Ondo State gave her some herbs which she took in November 2012 and she got pregnant and delivered the baby but there are no signs in her that she actually delivered that baby”.
Mr Ogochi said a team was constituted to examine her but after due examination, there were no signs in her that she actually delivered the baby.
Her breasts were not able to produce any milk which is quite unusual”.The Immigration Comptroller said Barrister Ngala was examined and there were no signs whatsoever assocaited with child delivery in her. “She said she paid the sum of N1.5 million naira to the woman who delivered her of the baby”.
He said the child would be handed over to NAPTIP for preservation till the determination of the case since the Nigerian Immigration Service is not a baby factory.

Defection: Court dismisses APC senators, Reps’ suit against PDP.....

The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, Friday, declined to halt moves by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to declare the seats of all the fifty-one lawmakers that defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, vacant.
However, before striking out the suit that was filed before it by the lawmakers, Justice Ahmed Mohammed, stressed that in line with section 68(1) (g) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, only the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, have the statutory powers to sack the plaintiffs from office.
Justice Mohammed delivered the judgment after he dismissed a fresh motion by the APC lawmakers, asking the high court to suspend its verdict sine-die (indefinitely), and await the outcome of a referral application they filed before the Appeal Court in Abuja.

The Jamaʻat Ahl as-Sunnah lid-daʻwa wal-Jihād popularly known as Boko Haram has called Nigerian Police ‘women’ in a song it produced in showing how they attacked Giwa Barracks, Maiduguri on 14th March, 2014.
The 23 minute and 54 seconds video produced by the sect confirmed their sophistication and modern weapons in their arsenal.
The video showed the sect exhibiting their warfare techniques, shooting targets from specialized armed vans, holding and firing grenades from ground and physical coordination of men by their Commanders who in the clip were giving orders.
The footage which also contained how the sect launched attacks from several directions in and around the military barracks, clearly showed hundreds it claimed to have freed after being incarcerated by the Nigerian military.

Ikechukwu Uche Replies Keshi,Says “I Am Surprised At His Statements”.....

Estranged Super Eagles striker, Ikechukwu Uche has said that he was  surprised by coach Stephen Keshi’s declaration that he was an undisciplined player hence he was dropped from his list of players for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Uche has not played for the Eagles since the 2013 Nations Cup where he was used sparringly by coach Keshi. And despite being the highest  scoring Nigeria striker in the European League, Keshi has turned his back on the Villarreal of Spain player. He said his reason for not including Uche in his plans was because the player was badly behaved and he rarely played to instructions.
“I do not know the reasons for these statements. Actually I am very surprised. It’s very sad for me, but I will not get into this issue,” Uche said.
Also his club president Fernando Roig said that Keshi was not very correct with the statement on Uche.
Roig defended the player’s character and questioned the rationale of Keshi’s statements about the player whose form has been instrumental to the Yellow Submarines’ positive run this season.
“I think the coach of Nigeria is not talking about the same Uche playing on our team,” the Villarreal President said.

Robin van Persie is so desperate to leave Manchester United that he’s willing to sacrifice a £10million bonus in order to join Juventus this summer, reports the Sunday Mirror.
The 30-year-old striker has become increasingly disillusioned with life with the Premier League champions, following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson last summer.
New Red Devils boss David Moyes has frequently insisted that there is no problem between himself and Van Persie, but it’s understood that the Dutchman wants out of Old Trafford and has set his sights on a switch to Serie ‘A’.
Juventus were credited with an interest in Van Persie when he opted to leave Arsenal in 2012, but the Holland international was persuaded by Ferguson to snub them and join Manchester United.
However, following a season of turmoil under Moyes, the former Gunner is ready to up sticks again, despite the fact he stands to earn a lucrative loyalty bonus by seeing out the remainder of his contract in Manchester.
Moyes has stressed on a number of occasions that the talisman is not for sale this summer, but if Juventus offer a decent return on the £24million Manchester United paid for Van Persie 19 months ago, then their stance might change.

Andres Iniesta Thanks Fans On Facebook For Their Support After Sad News Of His Wife’s Miscarriage.....

Andres Iniesta has taken to Facebook to thank Barcelona fans for their support after the midfielder’s wife Anna suffered a miscarriage.
The Spaniard missed his side’s 1-0 defeat to Real Valladolid due to “personal reasons”, with it later being revealed that the couple had lost their unborn child.
“Good Evening. On behalf of Anna, myself and our families, we can’t thank you enough for all of your support and affection over these last several days,” wrote Iniesta.
“My family and I are overwhelmed and infinitely grateful to all of you. There are difficult times and we thank you for respecting our privacy. We’re certain that for up above, the little one will help us… Big hugs for everyone.”
It is unclear when Iniesta will return to action for his club.
