Nigeria's Health Minister, Isaac Adewole warned Nigerians yesterday of the presence of a new deadly disease in the country.
The disease called Stephen Johnson Syndrome also called Stevens Johnson Syndrome has killed a Nigerian while another is clinging to life at the National Hospital Abuja.
In a discussion with newsmen in Abuja yesterday, Dr Adewole said the disease is causing strange allergic reactions in Nigeria and Europe.
It is a rare and reacts negatively to drugs.It is also a minor form of toxic epidermal necrolysis with less than 10 percent body surface area involvement.
Incidence of SJS is estimated between 1.1 and 7.1 cases/million per year and is more found in women than men. Incidence in Europe is two per million per year" Mr. Falodun said.
