Governors take attack on pipelines, herdsmen’s menace to Buhari......

The five Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors in the South South geo-political zone yesterday resolved to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari over security issues in their area.
The resurgence of attacks on pipelines in the region especially in Delta State and the menace of herdsmen, who have been attacking farmers, were condemned by the governors who said they would take the issues up with the President.

They however did not state the time the meeting will hold at a briefing with reporters in Asaba after a meeting yesterday, attended by all of them.
Host Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who spoke to reporters, was joined by Governors Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom) Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa) and Ben Ayade (Cross Rivers).
Okowa said the meeting also discussed how the PDP would do well in the Edo State governorship election. Edo is the only state controlled by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the zone and its governorship election is due in September.

AGF denies frustrating recovery of looted funds...........

•Malami replies Buhari’s query

Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) Abubakar Malami has denied allegation that he was frustrating moves by the Federal Government to recover looted public funds.
Malami’s position is contained in his response to a query issued to him in relation to a petition written against him to President Muhammadu Buhari by a security expert, George Uboh, of Panic Alert Security System (PASS).
 
Uboh was engaged by the AGF on February 9 to recover public funds stashed away by individuals in different Nigerian banks and some Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). The minister revoked Uboh’s appointment through a letter dated March 24 on the grounds that he exceeded his brief.
Angered by the development, Uboh petitioned the President, alleging among others, that the minister had allegedly entered into an unholy alliance with authorities of the affected banks.

I Budgeted N200 Billion For Roads Unlike Jonathan’s Paltry N18 Billion – Buhari...

President Muhammadu Buhari says his administration has prioritised the repair and construction of roads within the country, unlike his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, who earmarked very little for infrastructure.
Mr. Buhari said this in a speech Friday before signing the 2016 budget into law.
“To illustrate our renewed commitment to infrastructural development, the 2016 budget allocates over N200 billion to road construction as against a paltry N18 billion allocated for same purpose in the 2015 budget,” President Buhari said.
 
The president said his administration earmarked N350 billion for capital construction projects, with the hope that figure ill help stimulate the country’s ailing economy.
“The signing of the budget today will trigger concerted efforts to reflate the Nigerian economy, a key element of which is an immediate injection of N350bn into the economy by way of capital projects,” he said.
The 2016 budget was signed Friday afternoon after months of bickering by the executive and the National Assembly over figures and projects proposed in the document.
At the event, Mr. Buhari thanked all those who worked to make the budget a reality, including leaders of the National Assembly.

Five Nigerians In The UK Sent To Jail Over 2.4 Million Euro Fraud.......

Five Nigerians have been sentenced to jail for various housing frauds in Southwark, London, UK Evening Standard reports.
Trudy Ali-Balogun, 55, a Southwark Council Officer was said to have given tenancies worth £2.4 million to fraudsters claiming to be homeless.

She also took bribes of £2,000 to wave through bogus applications which included fake birth certificates passports and wage slips and spent the money on foreign holidays, Inner London Crown Court heard.
Ali-Balogun who approved at least 20 bogus applications for housing between 2003 and 2005, also altered records to show applicants were “homeless”. She was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment after she was found guilty in April.
