Chief
Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, daughter of former Lagos governor, Asiwaju Bola
Ahmed Tinubu has denied speculations that her father imposed her as
leader of the Nigerian Association of Market Women and Men.
Folashade, who was last month formally installed as the Iyaloja
General at the Iga Idungaran palace of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu
1, also debunked rumours that she is not educationally qualified for the
position, stating that she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Business Studies at Middlesex University in United Kingdom before
proceeding to Inter-Continental University in USA, where she bagged a
Masters degree in Management.
Speaking with newsmen at the weekend, Folashade said: “Asiwaju Bola
Tinubu is scared and was opposed to the idea when ‘mama’, Alhaja Abibat
Mogaji mooted it. Those who said my dad imposed me on the association
don’t know how he opposed the idea when mama came up with it. On three
separate occasions, mama spoke to him on her desire for me to take over
from her as the leader of the association. I learnt that it was when
mama told my dad that if he does not want his children to disobey him,
he should support her that he gave in. Aside this, I stood in for mama
as leader of the association at various occasions. I garnered experience
deputizing mama, so I have the necessary experience”.
