NEXT CBN GOVERNOR: Tony Elumelu, Imuokhude favoured to succed Sanusi ELUMELU CBN...

ELUMELU CBNIt is no longer news that the incumbent Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi will cease to occupy the coveted position come April, following his fallout with the presidency over unaccounted billions of dollar to the Federation Account by NNPC, Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation. Though, Sanusi had earlier hinted that he was no longer interested in the job. Nigeria needs a CBN Governor who understands the importance of growth and Nation Building and support to Small Businesses.
It’s no longer news that the preparation for the apex financial body in Nigeria, the CBN to shop for a replacement for the Lamido Sanusi is in top gear. This search for a competent replacement for the incumbent governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has become the trending topic in financial circles.
What has become a subject of discussion out there now is the possibility of who gets the plum and exalted position of the CBN governor between these two banking gurus, Tony Elumelu former boss United Bank of Africa who is now the Chairman of H.E.I.R.S Holdings Limited and Aig-Imuokhude, Managing Director, Access Bank .
Rumour has it that before now one of the top names being tipped for that enviable position in the banking sector in Nigeria, Central Bank of Nigeria governor was Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede who was described as the most favoured candidate of President Goodluck Jonathan. Obviously, there are two sides to a coin; the other side of the coin seems to be falling on Tony as he’s being considered to have an edge above Aig in the area of experience and exposure.
Another reason we learnt is that the presidency does not want to limit the option to just Aig hence a stronger contender like Tony.
