bomb blast and killing already, but for something to say, I must say this is a “Terrible Thing For a Nation”.
Yesterday, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command took a suspected mosque bomber into custody after he was arrested by traders and residents around a mosque in Garki village, Abuja.
The unnamed suspect was detained after some bystanders allegedly heard him speaking on the mobile phone of plans to blow up the mosque.
He was allegedly seen scouting around the mosque which appeared odd
to traders and residents of Garki village who apprehended him and took
him to the local chief’s palace.
Individuals who do not want their names in print said, the suspect
was first assaulted by the residents before being taken to the palace of
the chief Alhaji Usman Nga Kupi.
The chief was unavailable when our correspondent visited the palace yesterday.
However, some palace officials confirmed the incident and said the
suspect has been handed over to the Police. They explained that a
decision was taken by the palace to refer all enquiries on the matter to
the FCT police. A palace guard also told our newsmen that the suspect
appeared un-remorseful and after some questioning.
The guard alleged that the suspect admitted to be carrying out an assessment of the mosque before carrying out his bomb attack.
Attempt to get comments from the spokesperson of the FCT Police Command
DSP Altine Daniel was unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
It will be inappropriate to say this is unbecoming at a time like this when the nation has experienced too many
