APC cancels rousing welcome for Tinubu in honour of Agagu, crash victims TINUBU....

TINUBU
CHIEF ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU, THE NATIONAL LEADER ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS APC
There are indications that the All Progressive Congress , APC has shifted an elaborate plan to welcome its National Leader and former Governor of Lagos Asiwaju Bola Tinubu back to the country. Tinubu had left the country for the United States and later United Kingdom to seek medical care for a “nagging knee” injury he reportedly sustained in his school days.
His disappearance for weeks had raised questions among politicians of various tendencies who believed his absence could mar the progress of his new party.
The Nigeria Politics Online gathered from sources close to the former Governor that his decision to return to the country was taken last week after he had been certified fit to
return home.
Some of his aides and political allies were said to have agreed to a fun filled rally in Tinubu’s honour when he returns to Nigeria on Saturday.
However Thursday’s plane crash involving the body of the former governor Olusegun Agagu and 16 others who died in the crash was said to have compelled the political
associates to shelve the plan in line with the mood of the nation.
One of the aides who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity said “ we have to shelve the plan for now because of the mood of the nation. Agagu was an
illustrious son of Yoruba and all those who died are our people in this part of the country.
I cannot say now when that plan will materialise. But Asiwaju deserves a rousing welcome.”
Agagu is due for a low key burial in Akure today after the tragic crash involving his remains.
